USA Hockey | Four-Official System Manual

Basic Manual
The USA Hockey Basic Level Officiating Manual is designed to provide you the most simple concepts behind officiating ice hockey. From dropping the puck to calling the first penalty, all facets of officiating are described in a thorough, yet simple manner. The foundation to becoming a successful official is contained in this publication.

Intermediate Manual
There will be many new challenges you will face as you progress up the officiating ladder, even at the intermediate level. This manual will provide you with the resources necessary to meet those challenges, provided you are willing to accept them with an open mind. The expectations of an official who has advanced to higher levels also increase tremendously. Meeting those expectations may be your single biggest challenge.

Advanced Manual
There may be some concepts presented in this publication you have never seen before or maybe never thought you would see presented in a USA Hockey Officiating Manual. The official who has fifteen years of experience and has been reading the same material over and over during that time will learn something new. In addition, the “newer” experienced official who is exploring the advanced level for the first time will be fascinated by the intangibles associated with the art of officiating.
